7 amazing apps to automate your work or business

When I suggest you “automate your work”, you probably think that’s only for tech geeks or the high flyers who can afford to pay them. But even the smallest business or the most technically challenged individual can automate everyday routine tasks.

“For a man is rich in proportion to the number of things he can afford to let alone.”

Henry David Thoreau (Author)

What to automate

So, what would you like to automate? Consider some of the mundane tasks you do every day… sorry, I don’t have anything to help you fast forward through mundane Monday meetings -yet!

Best automation apps

I’d like to share with you a few of the apps I often use to automate my work, so I can invest more time and energy in what’s most important to me.

Buffer is a social media scheduling app, which lets you automate posting across your social media networks. What I love about buffer is that I can share content without getting distracted by baby Charlie in my news feed.

Calendly is a public facing scheduling app, which allows your clients to find out when you’re available and book a meeting or appointment. Calendly updates your private calendar too, so you never double up on dates. Oops… I mean appointments.

HubSpot is a customer relationship management system, which is free to get started. HubSpot’s mobile version includes a business card scanner, so I can take a photo, card details will be converted to text and saved to contacts.

In case you run your blog or website on WordPress, Jetpack is one of those must have plugins. I love it that I can post to my blog, social media and third party blogging platforms in one click… but there are dozens of other things you can automate on your website.

Mailchimp is an email marketing platform, which can help you automate emails to your clients on schedule or when triggered by an event. For example, if someone exits your website without buying, Mailchimp can send them an email and chastise them. Okay, maybe just to invite them back.

Office Lens

Office Lens is a scanner that works with the camera on your mobile device. Office Lens can save you time by scanning documents and reading text (using OCR) or save directly as a PDF, OneNote or PowerPoint file. Download this in your app store.

Zapier makes you happier by connecting thousands of web apps, so they play well together. For example, you could set up a rule, so a new task is created in your favourite app, when you receive an email in another app.

Which apps do you use?

It’s easy to automate your work. You just need to work out wat you’re doing every day that’s repetitive and looks for ways to automate that.
